Taste Halkidiki Fam Trip #2, June 2022, Organized by: Chef Stories.

A specially designed Fam Trip for journalists and bloggers was organized by Chef Stories on behalf of Halkidiki Chamber as part of the Taste Halkidiki Program.

The guests shared the experience of getting to know Halkidiki’s production, products, warm hospitality, tradition, memory, recipes, and the people who create them by living their dream.

The program included visits to the following businesses:

  • Apolymeni Petra and Valtinger Beer tasting
  • Passion Honey “Beekeeper for a Day”
  • Chliapas Olive Groves
  • Marigoula Restaurant, dinner with Claudia Papayanni wines and a visit from Leivadiotis Winery.
  • Archontiko Viraggas in Vrastama
  • Stathoris Dairy and Seven Seals Brewery
  • Domaine Agrovision and lunch at the throne of Xerxes
  • Arsanas in Nikiti, dinner with representatives from Akrathos Newlands Winery
  • Holy Community of Evangelismos Theotokou in Ormylia
  • Konstantara wines with a snack including black pork from the Myrtali Agricultural Cooperative
  • Georgakas Honey
  • Cultural Association of Megali Panagia
  • Sarti Festival
  • Anthoula Organic Vegetable Garden
  • Anthoula, lunch with representatives from Tzikas Family Winery

Fam Trip #2 in numbers:

  • 4 days, June 2-5, 2022
  • 19 participants, representing 13 electronic media, websites and blogs, from Athens and Thessaloniki
  • Tour of the 5 Municipalities of the Regional Unit of Halkidiki
  • 7 visits to production and sales venues of agri-food products
  • 14 meetings with local producers

Interviews, information, and dozens of product tastings from the main categories produced in Halkidiki:olives, olive oil, honey, cheese, wine, beer, vineyard products, distillates, meat, cold cuts, fish, seafood, pies, desserts, mushrooms, vegetables, fruits

  • 2 original experiential activities: “Beekeeper for a Day” & “Hidden Treasure – Wine tasting buried in the vineyard”
  • 2 visits to hospitality and mountain tourism venues for meals and snacks
  • 4 meals with specially designed menus at distinguished dining venues in Halkidiki
  • 2 meals at production venues, curated by the hosting businesses, in collaboration with other local producers and their partners
  • 1 meeting with a local cultural and tradition association, presentation, and tasting of treats prepared with traditional recipes
  • 1 visit and tour at the Holy Community of Evangelismos Theotokou in Ormylia
  • 1 visit to the organic vegetable garden of the “Anthoula Square” restaurant

The trip concluded with the participants’ visit to the memorial event “100 years since the uprooting,” which took place on June 4 in Sarti, Sithonia.
